There is no one word to sum up this tour, incredible, amazing and awe inspiring just don't feel like they do this tour justice. From the minute Luca picked me up, it was incredible stop after another, from stunning views of the Lagon, through to stunning back roads to see kangaroos and one of the best craft breweries I have ever stepped foot in. Every aspect of this tour was 5 stars, there is not a single aspect I can fault, and it was simply one of the best tours and tour guides I've had in my life.
Our guide Lutz was fantastic & full of information & very accommodating to giving us a memorable experience. A couple small issues in that the itinery I booked was different to what our guide was given for our afternoon adventures. I also was not contacted about pick up, I was chasing this up on our holiday as no one had contacted me & pick up times also differed & lunch itinery was also changed & also only notified 1 day before our booking. Overall we had a great day out but for the money you pay I didn't expect these minor hiccups.
We had such an amazing tour with Riggsy who was able to provide local expertise and insight throughout the day. On a full day tour there was never a dull moment. I cannot recommend the tour highly enough. It felt more like a visit with a friend than a tour guide.
We asked Kylie to organise transfers from Adelaide, the ferry to KI, KI accommodation and flights back to Adelaide. Whilst on the island for two days we went on the Gourmet Food and Wine Tour and the Wilderness Tour. Everything went smoothly and we thoroughly enjoyed both tours. The Gourmet tour is particularly good value for money with a multi course lunch at Sunsets. Beautiful food, excellent service and a magnificent view set this restaurant apart. 2 hours is allowed for the lunch. We had a different driver on each day and both were personable and a pleasure to deal with. In particular, Don who drove the Gourmet tour, was very knowledgeable about the island and he even took us for some four wheel beach driving. A big thank you to Kylie and her team for organising the two days for us so it fitted with our specific requirements. Kangaroo Island Trails has been a pleasure to deal with and the tours represent a great way to see and experience the island in a short space of time.
Great start to the day to find ourselves the only two in the group ! This meant the driver kindly adjusted the schedule to suit us, caught us up on some sights we had missed and added others of more interest. FUll of information and anecdotes along route we were fully entertained. Loved the quick trip to see resident seals and the boat building at American RIver. Honey farm and gin distillery a bonus. Lavender farm was a beautiful spot in f this world and definitely not to be missed. Gourmet lunch was unusual in its content but we thoroughly enjoyed it and the views were stunning. Last stop was the winery where we were persuaded to retry bubbles we had prevusly disliked ....and liked them ! This day trip was a perfect end to our five days on Kangaroo Island and we experienced far more than on the large coach tours. Our guide was excellent and let us in on a few local spots to visit next time we come.
The day we spent with Kylie on this tour was amazing. We saw fantastic scenery, had great food and amazing drinks. We could not have asked for more. In one day we experienced: honey tastings, lavender tea and scones, gin tasting, cider tastings at the eucalyptus distillery, lunch at Sunset Food and Wine, wine tasting at Dudley cellars. We stopped at Emu Bay and Pennington Bay too. It was worth every cent and we are so glad we did this tour as we went to so many places and saw so much, all kicking back and relaxing whilst the hard work was done for us.
We were picked up by «Ricksy» (Kevin) in a charming mini-bus. From the word go he made our trial such a pleasant one. Very knowledgeable and willing to share his views on anything from politics to a humouristic view on the islanders and their habits. Very descrete when he needed to and very warm and participating when the spirit of the tour made that natural. (Most of the time.) We covered a lot in 6 hours, including the best meal, so far, in a hillside restaurant overlooking the bay; the Sunset Food and Wine, run by Vanessa and Jack Ingram. Although the program was not as descibed by our norwegian tour operator, it did not matter as we were fortunate to take part in a real life tour of Kangaroo Island - far more interesting than the description. This was personalised and fantastic. Driver was Phillip and he took the time to talk to us about the things we liked and then worked that into the abundant attractions they had access to. We were able to drop a couple of things on the original plan off and add a couple of others. We went on a number of tours while on Kangaroo Island. This was by far the best. He had a good knowledge of the island and it's history and the vehicle they used was first class. Really nice lunch provided in a great setting. Scenery was sensational, recommend 100%
Kangaroo Island is all about the scenery, wildlife and great food, right? And we got itin bucketloads today. Kevin was an amazing guide: knowledgeable, engaging and loads of fun. We had great honey, learnt about eucalyptus oil distillation, ate great lavender scones, tasted fantastic gin and wine, and Kevin even agreed to an unscheduled stop at KI Brewery. And the food at Sunset Food was to die for. Kevin introduced us to a couple of kangaroos, an emu, he found us a koala and we even watched a pod of dolphins at Pennington Bay. We would not have had this experience if it weren’t for KI Trails and Kevin. Thanks for a memorable day!
